HIKE is located by the Kikuchi river in Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture.
This area used to be a prosperous port town during Edo era, and we can still see the scenery of many merchant houses lined up on stone walls along the river.
Hostel HIKE is created by renovating an old building in 2020. It has a dining room where you can enjoy meals cooked with seasonal ingredients by local producers, and a shop with a collection of daily life tools.
The owners, who have travelled all over the world, use their rich sensibility to share their passions for local culture and handicrafts, and create interaction between visitors and the local community.
Kumamoto Prefecture is the region where organic farming is most active in Japan.
